Frequently asked questions
Direct answers for formulators evaluating Mix Lab AI. For full pricing tables see /plans.
What is Mix Lab AI?+
Mix Lab AI is formulation software for chemists and product developers across cosmetics, nutraceuticals, food, cannabis, coatings, and related verticals. It combines ingredient parsing, compliance context, supplier costing, batch tracking, and AI benchmark/research tools in one workspace. Teams use it on web, iOS, Android, and iPad.
How much does Mix Lab AI cost?+
Free is $0 forever (3 formulations, basic INCI parsing, limited research). Pro is $59/month for unlimited formulations, Health Canada validation, mobile access, and included research/benchmark quotas. Team is $199/month for collaboration, shared libraries, and higher quotas; Enterprise is custom for API and dedicated support.
What is included on the Free plan?+
Free includes up to 3 formulations, basic INCI parsing, and a small monthly research quota (about 5 queries). Regulatory checks, unlimited formulas, and mobile/tablet access are on paid plans. You can start at /login with no credit card required.
What do I get with Pro at $59/month?+
Pro unlocks unlimited formulations, Health Canada validation, iteration tracking, supplier pricing, and mobile/tablet access. Included monthly usage is typically 100 research queries and 20 benchmark analyses, with optional overage. It is aimed at solo formulators and small indie brands.
Who is the Team plan ($199/month) for?+
Team is built for small labs and contract manufacturers with roughly 5–15 seats. It includes everything in Pro plus multi-user collaboration, role-based access, a shared ingredient library, higher research/benchmark quotas, and priority support. Contact sales if you need Enterprise API or custom regs.
Does Mix Lab AI parse INCI and ingredient lists?+
Yes. Paste an INCI list, supplement panel, or food ingredient declaration and Mix Lab AI structures it into ordered components with concentrations where present. Parsed ingredients can map into your library for compliance checks, costing, and formula drafting. A free INCI parser is also available at /free/inci-parser without an account.
Does Mix Lab AI support Health Canada cosmetics compliance?+
Pro and higher plans include Health Canada cosmetics validation against restricted and prohibited ingredients (hot-list style checks). Cosmetics and indie beauty workspaces also support Ecocert/COSMOS-oriented certification limits. Always treat results as decision support—final regulatory responsibility stays with the manufacturer.
Which industries does Mix Lab AI support?+
Mix Lab AI supports 24+ verticals including cosmetics & beauty, indie beauty, nutraceuticals, cannabis, pet food, fragrance, food & beverage, cleaning, paints & coatings, pharma/CDMO, and more. At signup you pick an industry so nav labels, visible sections, and compliance context match your workflow.
What is the difference between a formula and a production batch?+
A formula (or recipe/blend, depending on industry) is the composition of record—ingredients, concentrations, phases, and versions. A production batch is a scaled run created from that formula with batch number, size, planned quantities, status, and optional actuals. Batches link R&D to manufacturing without overwriting the approved formula.
Is there a mobile app?+
Yes. Mix Lab AI is available on web plus iOS, Android, and iPad so labs and production floors can access the same workspace. Free is web-oriented; Pro and Team include mobile and tablet access. Feature availability can differ slightly by platform for complex planning views.
Does Mix Lab AI have an API?+
Yes. REST API v1 covers formulations, ingredients, inventory, production batches, compliance helpers, audit logs, notifications, and outbound webhooks. Authenticate with a Supabase session Bearer token; rate limits apply (about 120 requests per rolling minute). Enterprise plans emphasize API and custom integration support—see /settings/api-docs after sign-in.
What free tools are available without signing up?+
Public tools live under /free: an INCI/ingredient list parser and a lab unit converter for mass, volume, concentration, temperature, and length. They give instant utility with no account. Full compliance checks, batch scaling, and cost tracking require a Mix Lab AI account.
How does Benchmark Analysis work?+
Benchmark Analysis lets you paste a product URL or ingredient list; AI extracts structured components and helps draft a comparable formula. Paid plans include monthly benchmark quotas (for example 20/month on Pro, 100/month on Team) with optional overage. Results are starting points for R&D, not finished commercial formulas.
Can I track COGS and supplier pricing?+
Yes. Link ingredients to supplier prices and Mix Lab AI estimates cost per unit and per batch as you change concentrations or scale size. Pro includes supplier pricing so R&D can see COGS impact in real time. Pricing data stays under your control—update quotes as vendors change.
Does Mix Lab AI support nutraceuticals and NPN workflows?+
Yes. The nutraceuticals workspace treats products as recipes with Supplement Facts–style parsing, NPN-oriented compliance context, and batch/inventory tracking. It also supports FDA 21 CFR Part 111–minded documentation habits by keeping formula versions, tests, and iterations together. Confirm final NPN submissions against Health Canada guidance.
Can fragrance teams check IFRA and allergens?+
The fragrance industry profile emphasizes IFRA standards and allergen disclosure alongside blend management. You can benchmark existing fragrances from ingredient lists, track iterations, and watch raw-material cost without enabling full production/inventory sections if you do not need them. Treat IFRA category selection and final labeling as expert-reviewed steps.
How do I sign up or start a demo?+
Create an account via /login, choose your industry during onboarding, and start on Free ($0). Upgrade anytime from /plans or dashboard Plans to Pro ($59/mo) or Team ($199/mo). For Enterprise API, custom regulations, or dedicated support, email contact@mixlabai.com.
What is AI Research in Mix Lab AI?+
Research is an in-app assistant for open-ended formulation questions (ingredient selection, literature-style prompts, regulatory nuance) with industry context. Quotas apply by plan—roughly 5/month on Free, 100 on Pro, 500 on Team—with overage options on paid tiers. Use it to accelerate decisions, then verify critical claims with primary sources.
Can contract manufacturers and CDMOs use Mix Lab AI?+
Yes. Pharma & CDMO and Team/Enterprise plans support multi-user collaboration, shared libraries, production batches, and audit-friendly iteration history. REST API and outbound webhooks help connect Mix Lab AI to MES, LIMS, or ERP workflows. Role-based access helps separate R&D and production responsibilities.
Where can I get help or contact sales?+
Product help lives in-app and in the public docs; plans and add-ons are listed at /plans. For Team seat questions or Enterprise (custom regs, API, dedicated support), contact contact@mixlabai.com. Billing updates after Stripe checkout are reflected on your Profile plan and usage.
