INCI Parsing and Ingredient Transparency
Long ingredient lists are hard to manage by hand. Parsing them automatically is the first step to better formulation and compliance.
What is INCI?
International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) is the standard for naming ingredients on cosmetic labels. Similar standards exist for supplements (e.g. Supplement Facts) and food. Parsing turns a single string into a list of named ingredients with optional concentrations.
Why parsing is hard
Lists often include extracts, compounds, and trade names. Commas and parentheses can be ambiguous. Doing this by hand is slow and error-prone; a missed ingredient can affect compliance or safety.
How AI parsing helps
AI can break down INCI and other formats into structured components, handle complex entries, and feed into downstream checks (regulatory, certification, costing). Mix Lab AI’s ingredient parsing supports cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and food so you start from a clean, structured list every time.
